DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced and hardworking Skid Steer Operator within our Concrete Division for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area.

The individual will work under the direction of the Concrete Foreman and will primarily be responsible to adhere to established safe working procedures in addition wear the proper safety equipment at all times.

This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role will also adhere to company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience - experienceworking in civil construction is considered an asset
  • Excavation, gravel distribution and leveling knowledge
  • Final grading abilities, including finishing gravel/clay materials within 2 centimeters
  • Experience using the breaker attachment for removals
  • Loading Tandem trucks with rubble
  • Mobilizing skid steer from site to site
  • Basic maintenance ( grease, fluid checks ) fueling machine
  • Perform daily inspections and housekeeping, while following safe job procedures
  • Confident working in tight construction sites
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge of City surrounding areas
  • Some computer skills needed
  • Reliable transportation and a positive attitude
  • Qualified applicants must possess a valid driver's license and a Clean Drivers Abstract


  • Must be willing to work long hours and overtime during busy seasons
  • Capable of and willing to perform heavy manual labour when required
  • Capable of and willing to work in hot, dusty or cold conditions
  • Must be a team player, as well as possess the ability to work independently
