We currently have an opportunity available for an Assistant Vice President Financial Lines Claims position. This position is located in our Toronto office and reports to the Vice President Financial Lines Claims.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage and provide technical assistance to a team of claims analysts in Montreal and/or Toronto from Complex Claims Directors to Level III analysts
Assign new claims according to claim complexity to the Canadian team
Review/approve coverage letters
Ensure the team’s strict adherence to Litigation Guidelines/control of legal expenses and timely reserves
Ensure file quality through monthly audits and address any issues through employee coaching/training to minimize departmental leakage.
Ensure that broker/customer needs are met, manage expectations and ensure satisfaction
Provide assistance to Underwriting / Actuarial as necessary and assist in the retention and acquisition of insureds
Collaboration with key stakeholders across the organization
Meet with brokers/customers to discuss and implement claims processes specific to their needs
Monitor analyst performance to identify key best practices/performance issues
Complete mid-year reviews and performance reviews
Build development plan for all analysts within the group and provide opportunities for development
Promote a culture of integrity and risk management within the team

Position Requirements:
Legal degree and / or 5 to 10 years experience in commercial or insurance litigation preferably with an emphasis on D&O, E&O, Financial Institutions, Fidelity and / or Fiduciary claims
Ability to work independently
Strong decision making-skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Superior analytical skills
Ability to multi-task and work effectively and cooperatively in a fast paced busy team environment
Ability to manage work load effectively and efficiently/ability to prioritize is essential
Proficient computer skills in a busy paperless environment
