Networking being a key piece of the future of entertainment : multi-user and multi-platform shared spaces and interactions, persistent virtual objects, and streaming content will all be first-class citizens of our workflow and functionality. As an industry leader in game networking, able to speak authoritatively about networking system design for multiple game types, your job entails working on integrations, to build out support for key partners with a focus on networking technologies: all platforms, relocalization, matchmaking, database integration, and cloud pipelines, with an eye on security, voice, analytics, latency and so on. This includes both hardware and software partners.
This an opportunity to play a strategic role in establishing Unity's position in an evolving landscape of direct-to-consumer apps and services.
Support the creation of all back-end needs involved in a creator toolkit and new SDK for multi-user experiences
Work under the Lead Architect and with partner developers to build a roadmap and deliver a flexible and performant architecture which meets the needs of projects small and large, and can integrate with existing Unity components and partner platforms
Develop systems touching everything from ticketing APIs to lag compensation
Design high level systems integrated with the Unity Editor & Unity Engine
Knowledge of low level networking concepts and high level multiplayer game systems
Experience with high performance programming, multi-threading, and memory management
Experience as a multiplayer or networking developer for a shipped game
Experience creating architectural system designs
Unity experience, either as a user or an extensions developer
AAA games, XR or CG Animation industry leadership experience
Interest in film, television, and interactive storytelling
Excellent problem solving skills, technical judgment
Experience with demos and prototyping is a plus
