Position Title: Senior Compensation Consultant

Position Summary:

Working with clients across a variety of industries, the Senior Compensation Consultant will have a solid background in compensation and total rewards that will ensure our clients’ total compensation packages are competitive and support attracting and retaining qualified employees. The Compensation Consultant will ensure all deliverables are executed with a high level of data integrity, thorough analytical processes and concise reporting. The Compensation Consultant will be the outsourced HR partner for our clients and will work directly with them in all aspects of their compensation needs. The Consultant will use a collaborative approach to the client work, bringing innovative and best practices to the table.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and ensure effectiveness of all compensation programs and assist to develop appropriate models
  • Facilitate design of pay levels and annual incentive pay programs
  • Work with Salopek management to prepare required proposals to all compensation programs
  • Perform analysis on job description defining all job requirements and provide required feedback as required
  • Analyze all external and internal market data for competitor market
  • Recommend improvements for all compensation targets and evaluate market data and ensure efficiency and accuracy in data
  • Recommend compensation targets and assist management in implementing new programs and systems as required
  • Coordinate with management to determine all salary requirements and ensure competency in all compensation requirements
  • Prepare reports for base salary and compensation program changes
  • Manage and utilize publish surveys to establish appropriate market ranges
  • Collaborate with management to participate in third party surveys as required
  • Assist Human Resources with compensation decisions and ensure optimal utilization of all salary information
  • Monitor market data and develop salary structures for all compensation programs
  • As required, organize and administer custom compensation surveys to provide required data and provide compilation information to participant
  • Resolve compensation issues and ensure optimal level of customer services to clients

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • CCP – Certified Compensation Professional designation
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma with a specialization in Human Resources or Business
  • 15+ years experience in a compensation analyst/specialist role in small to medium-sized businesses
  • Strong analytical and consultation skills
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CPHR/CHRL/CHRE) designation preferred
  • Previous experience working in a HR/Compensation consulting advisory role that has supported a diverse cross section of industries and clients
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills along with proven ability to exercise sound judgment with tact and discretion
  • Sound knowledge of human resources theories, principles, and practices, with a demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to practical and relevant compensation practices that add value to clients
  • Ability to produce high quality work and manage multiple deliverables under time pressure
  • This position may be executed from the Consultant’s choice of location; however, the ability to travel to and go on-site for Calgary and Alberta-based clients is important
  • Ideal opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys the flexibility of virtual work but is flexible enough to travel both in and outside of Alberta when required
