Reporting to the Business Intelligence Program Manager, the Business Analyst provides consultation and analysis for business intelligence and data services for the Ministry. This position plays a key role in reporting projects and data requests involving the utilization of various data sources in the department such as our data warehouse and data mart as well as a variety of stand-alone data platforms to support program delivery and planning within the Ministry.
The Business Analyst uses storyboards, process models and other approaches to clarify requirements and articulate business needs. The position also supports the development of metadata, coordinates testing, training when needed and oversees implementation.
As the successful candidate in this position, you will assess options for viability and cost-effectiveness, and recommend efficient solutions that meet business needs. You will work independently or as a member of a multidisciplinary team in developing and implementing reporting solutions. You will also identify the impact of new tools on staff and processes; and develop and implement change management strategies and procedures to implement solutions while minimizing disruption to business processes.
This position requires strong analytical skills to plan and develop creative solutions to meet business needs. Strong planning and organizational skills are needed to coordinate the development and implementation of solutions. Strong consultation and facilitation skills are needed to work with non-technical customers as well as technical service providers.
