Position Overview:
Scarborough and Rouge Hospital is committed to the deployment of Lean thinking as the fundamental philosophy underpinning our transformation efforts. Reporting to the Manager of Coding and Data Quality, the Health Information Professional is responsible for coding and abstracting patient records.

Requirements:
  • Secondary school graduate or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a CHIMA recognized HIM program and CHIM certification, member in good standing with CHIMA
  • NACRS Coder with a minimum of 3 years of SDC coding experience
  • Experience with CCO coding
  • Strong Communication, Interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Computer experience/background.
  • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
