Our division, Marquise Hospitality is currently looking for Temporary Part time Cook for Mill Creek Care Centre facility in Barrie, ON.

Compensation: $18.30 probation rate, after probation $19.30 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours bi-weekly. every other weekend is a must
Shifts: Days, Afternoon and Evening (must have open availability)
Start Date: ASAP

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to the Food & Nutrition Manager:
Prepare and serve menu items in accordance with Ontario Regulation 79/10 under the Long-Term Care Act, 2007, public health regulations and department policies and procedures
Ability to direct and meet the time schedule for service of meals, snacks and special theme meal events.
Follows proper food-handling techniques including but not limited to: temperature checks & recording, glove use, preventing cross-contamination, use of proper utensils and hand washing protocol.
Monitors the quality of food supplies received and advises the manager of problems in a timely manner.
Rotates and stores food: including covering, labeling & dating products according to food safety standards.
Keeps work area clean, sanitary and uncluttered and completes scheduled cleaning duties.
Reports food, supply and equipment needs to the Manager as required.
Alerts food service manager to problems and making recommendations about corrective action.
Delivers food carts to designated areas.
Oversees the dietary department in the absence of the dietary manager; supervises & directs the team.

Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook.

Food Handling Certification is a must

Certificate from a recognized cooking school.

Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.

Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.

Familiar with industry’s best practices.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Important note: **A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment. Proof of immunizations and Tuberculosis Screening Test results may be required. **
