The Opportunity:

The Vacuum Truck Operator will remove, transport, and deliver various liquid and sludge wastes from our customer sites via our fleet of heavy industrial vacuum units. The Operator will be required to perform loading and unloading, as well as other associated activities. The Operator will also have prior experience in operating other road equipment including tanker trailers, pumper trucks and box trucks if required.

Job Duties:

  • Perform vacuum operations in the collection of waste fluids in accordance with our standard operating procedure and safe practices
  • Update and maintain government documents such as manifests, with accuracy
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and road worthiness
  • Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, customs and immigration and weights and dimensions
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
  • Deliver service with proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
  • Provide feedback to supervisor regarding customer, mechanical, or collection issues
  • Train others when required
  • Other duties as may be assigned


  • High School diploma
  • Valid Class 3 license
  • 3 years plus experience in vacuum truck operations with demonstrated competency
  • Experience in commercial driving around Lower Mainland
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge in plumbing and fluid mechanics
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Strong work ethic
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors
  • Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 50 lbs required
  • Overtime and weekend work will be required as needed
  • Available for on call duties in after-hours emergency spill response service
