The opportunity

Reporting to the Grande Prairie Area Manager, the EIC Measurement Technician in Dawson Creek, B.C. ensures all measurement control systems and equipment are effectively maintained and safely operated in accordance with our standards of performance, policies and procedures. This role is responsible for repairing, installing, troubleshooting and performing other planned maintenance and corrective tasks on assigned electronic, electrical, pneumatic and/or mechanical control systems, devices, and ancillary equipment. The technician will focus on the support and maintenance of gas pipeline measurement systems such as Dew Point Testers, H2S Analyzers, gas Chromatographs and Flow Computers.

The regular work schedule for this position will be

Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hour days (7:00am to 4:30pm) Friday is an 8 hour day (7:00am to 3:30pm)

Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hour days Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

This position is overtime eligible and part of an on-call rotation and provides emergency support as required. Some travel may also be required.

What you’ll do

Independently perform installation, testing, repair and maintenance at measurement facilities and other facilities relevant to the pipeline system, once deemed fully qualified, as required
Perform routine maintenance, major maintenance, and troubleshoot Gas Analyzers, Gas Chromatographs, H2S & H20 Analyzers, meters and other associated equipment
Troubleshoot, test, & maintain shutdown devices, fire & gas systems, auxiliary systems, UPS devices, control valves, PLC’s & control systems
Perform emergency repairs to meet customer and client needs
Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanada's Community, Safety and Environment policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
Support active control of contractors
Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TransCanada's safety, health, environment and risk standards
Procure resources and manage within the facilities budget
Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low / medium complexity projects (including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third party active control)
Provide support to our business partners

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of 5 years industry relevant experience
High school diploma/GED
Fully competent and current with all Health, Safety and Environment standards and training.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Competent using equipment applicable to the maintenance of control systems
Experienced with the interpretation of technical reference documents

Preferred Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
Proven ability to work effectively alone and in a team environment
Strong knowledge in measurement technology
Previous experience working with high pressure natural gas, piping and valves
Proficient on computer MS Office, Maintenance Management Systems and SAP experience
Experience with the interpretation of technical reference documents
Mechanical aptitude

This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver's license;
Provide a driver's abstract for review;
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
