Position: Health, Safety & Wellness Assistant

Status: Temporary Full Time (approximately 12 months)

Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:00AM-4:00PM

Site(s): Oakville, Milton and Georgetown Hospital sites

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Health, Safety & Wellness Manager, the Health, Safety and Wellness Assistant is a member of the Human Resources Team. The Assistant supports the development, delivery and monitoring of employee safety and prevention programs in alignment with legislation, best practices. The focus of this position is to support organizational compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental legislation, guidelines and standards.

This is what you will be doing:
Provide daily administrative support to the Health, Safety and Wellness Program. Including Safety, Disability Management, and the Attendance Support Program.
Responsible for updating and maintenance of Health, Safety and Wellness databases such as MSDS Online and Parklane.
Responsible for monitoring accidents and claim trends requiring further attention.
Assist with the Respiratory Protection Program, including fit testing workers.
Assisting with receiving and triaging client inquiries, including face to face and emails.
Support Health, Safety and Wellness Initiatives including monitoring the scheduling of internal and external training activities for Halton Healthcare employees.
Maintenance of the Health, Safety and Wellness Connections Webpage.
Support occupational injury/illness claims management programs and initiatives.
Monitoring inventory and placing orders as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Act as an advocate for staff safety, health, and wellness in accordance with the values of Halton Healthcare.

Certificate or Diploma in Office Medical Administration
Preference will be given to candidates with a background and education health and safety
Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible and related experience
Knowledge of legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Health and Safety Insurance Act and Human Rights Code of Ontario
Experience with Parklane considered an asset
Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, able to work with a high level of accuracy
Able to work independently in a fast paced and challenging environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to interact with disciplinary staff at all levels of the organization
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
