Quebec’s ABB Measurement & Analytics plant is a world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and for global weather forecasting. Our plant is also known for its expertise in the development and manufacture of various products that meet a number of industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.
By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec City, you will actively contribute to our customers’ projects, as well as to the research and development of our technology. You will be part of a dynamic and challenging multidisciplinary team.
You will complete projects of varying complexity with budgets between $200K and $5M. Within the project office, you will ensure that new product launch dates are met by rigorously orchestrating communications and follow-up with all stakeholders. Under your leadership, your team will be committed to developing, on budget, state-of-the-art products that meet strict quality criteria and while complying with the requirements of our customers.
Lead the project team with clear instructions, tasks and steps, while motivating and providing feedback.
Manage all aspects of the project in accordance with the customers’ requirements and ensures that all technical, safety, quality and financial objectives are met.
Work with external certification firms.
Oversee the development of project plan documents with respect to scope, budget, schedule and risk management.
Monitor each stage of project implementation to ensure best practices in terms of cost control, resource efficiency, risk management, and health, safety and environment.
Identify, analyze and manage project risks, sharing lessons learned on a regular basis.
Coordinate contract negotiations and purchase of equipment in conjunction with the supply chain team.
Stay focused on launch date, product cost and effective transfer to operations and after-sales service.
Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Ensure efforts are aligned with the customer/company requirements.
Report opportunities and issues to management in a clear and accurate manner.
Manage and document employee performance, make recommendations to immediate supervisors and promote employee training.

Minimum 5 years experience delivering product development projects ideally with international experience
PMP certification recommended
ABB Project Manager Certification or ABB/PMP® Project Manager Certification is an asset
Knowledge and experience in AGILE management methodology
Ability to manage multiple projects with converging delivery dates in a fast-paced environment
Collaboration spirit, solution-oriented and strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to influence others to achieve a common goal and build relationships of trust and credibility
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs
Ability to work on a current project and complete it successfully
Strong business acumen, understanding of the customer needs and ability to maintain good relationships with them
The candidate must have, or plans on obtaining a Level 2 Security Clearance from the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
