We are seeking a Manager of Survey/Geomatics for our Collingwood office, to be responsible for the planning, supervision, direction and production of engineering surveys, plans, documents and related services throughout the various Tatham Engineering offices (Collingwood, Barrie, Bracebridge, Orillia and Ottawa).
As the Manager, you will
schedule, manage and oversee daily operations of the Geomatics department, evaluate survey requests to ensure adequate requirements, and recommend and determine extent of work required for surveys and methods to be used;
review and assess survey equipment and technologies and provide recommendations to Senior Management for acquisition;
ensure survey staff are appropriately trained for use of survey equipment and technologies;
liaise with Tatham Project Managers and clients to establish survey costs, schedules and deliverables;
perform field investigations and research information sources to compile data necessary for survey projects and manipulation of survey data;
supervise a team of survey technologists and technicians, providing technical guidance and instruction to ensure compliance with Tatham standards and industry guidelines, and completeness and accuracy of survey data and plans;
assess and resolve complex or unusual survey problems;
undertake field services and surveys as required to supplement/complement the survey staff, particularly during peak seasons;
coordinate surveys with other service providers as may be required, confirming fees schedules and deliverables; and
provide quality control of all Geomatic related deliverables.
This position reports to the Vice President Head Office Operations.
Key Position Requirements:
Degree/diploma in Geomatics or Surveying, P.Eng. or CET with related field experience
Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant survey and/or management of geomatics
Understanding of coordinate geometry, coordinate systems and datums, theory of least squares, horizontal and vertical project control and the survey requirements for the planning, design and construction of transportation and municipal infrastructure
Understanding of survey equipment such as total stations, data collectors, global positioning receivers, theodolites and levels
Understanding of computer surveys application software such as AutoCAD, ground modelling, and coordinate geometry, global positioning systems (GPS) and geographic information system (GIS) technology
Understanding of current and emerging industry standards, procedures, equipment and software to promote the implementation of new survey techniques (including use of digital mapping, LIDAR and drone surveys)
Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to assess
Knowledge of OHSA and guidelines as they apply to survey crews
Versatility with respect to skill sets and the ability to undertake other engineering related and/or CADD assignments will be an advantage
