LEAP is a 2x Award winning initiative! This full-time 18-month Leadership Development Program is for high potential talent seeking a career in management. Once accepted into this high-touch program as part of a cohort, you will rotate through four operational cycles within the organization including Service, Production, Sales, and Operational Leadership. Throughout each cycle, you will learn the department from the ground up. You will spend the first half of the rotation learning the jobs of each Team Partner in that Department. Then you will spend the second half of the rotation working with the department leaders to learn how to become a successful manager at UniFirst!

Throughout the duration of the program, you will gain hands-on experience, be exposed to a blend of leadership education through classroom and experiential learning and partake in action learning projects that directly impact the business. You can also expect to participate in weekly meetings with the Program Manager to receive feedback, mentorship, and personalized development. Additionally, once per rotation the cohort will reconvene at a UniFirst training location for an in-depth understanding of our history, core values, and culture while learning from and building rapport with Executive Leadership.

The start date for the upcoming Cohort of the LEAP Program is June 8, 2020.

A self-starter, with a desire to embark on the start of a successful career in leadership. A team player with a knack for leading. Not one to shy away from a challenge, you’re focused on broadening your skill set, while continuing to learn and grow both personally and professionally. The three adjectives you would use to describe yourself are smart, hungry, and humble. Did we mention it doesn’t hurt to be adventurous? Willingness to relocate is required!

Upon successful completion of the program, you can expect an offer of full-time, permanent employment in a variety of entry-level to mid-level managerial roles at any of our 250+ UniFirst locations in the United States and Canada. These roles may include but are not limited to; Route Service Manager, Route Service Supervisor, Stockroom Manager, Assistant Production Manager, Sales Team Lead, Customer Development Representative, Office Administrator, and more!

Through on-the-job training, coursework, and observation, you will learn the function of each Team Partner’s role in their operational area. Your training will maintain a focus on developing the skills to manage, motivate, and successfully lead the teams within Service, Production, Sales, and Operational Leadership.

SERVICE ROTATION: If you’ve seen our signature UniFirst trucks driving around your city, then you’ve seen part of our Service Department hard at work! The Service Department acts as the face of our organization by delivering our products and interfacing with our valued customers. In this rotation, you will be exposed to key functions within the Service Department and develop necessary skills to motivate and guide a Service Team. While helping to lead a team, you will handle customer needs directly and ensure that our Customer Service Systems are implemented and executed to the best of our abilities.

PRODUCTION ROTATION: Production is where the process and the people come together! As the heart of UniFirst’s operation, you will find that Production is our most diverse group of UniFirst Team Partners. During this rotation, you will learn solutions to key challenges in leading and managing a team within industrial laundry processing. As you earn Production certifications, you will be encouraged to create efficient processes and procedures, as we strive to operate as leanly as possible.

SALES ROTATION: As an international leader in the garment services industry, UniFirst is rated in the top 10 “Best Companies to Sell For” list by Selling Power magazine! A crucial aspect of our organization, sales is vital to our overall growth and success. During your time in the Sales Rotation, you will hit the ground running by making cold calls and visiting current and potential clients. You will also partake in our Award-Winning Sales Training Program, where you will be taught the necessary skills to lead, inspire, and motivate sales professionals, while earning several sales certifications along the way.

Operational Leadership focuses on overall management skills and how to communicate company goals to Team Partners in order to reach desired results. This rotation will provide a unique insight and comprehensive understanding of how UniFirst’s corporate activities support and impact field operations. You will increase your understanding of our business while enhancing your core managerial and leadership competencies. Additionally, in this rotation, the LEAP Associates will partake in a Career Concentration period. The Career Concentration period of the LEAP program further develops the LEAP Associate’s leadership skills, within a specific area of their choosing; Service, Sales, Production, or Office.
