The Employee Communications team at IGM Financial is responsible for managing internal communications across the IGM Financial group of companies (Mackenzie Investments, Investors Group Wealth Management and partners with Investment Planning Counsel). Success is achieved through leveraging internal channels, leader consultation, implementing programs to enhance our talent brand and culture, and developing strategies/content to engage employees in IGM’s business success.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Communications, the Manager will be responsible for improving the employee experience through innovative and effective communication practices. The function is part of the IGM Financial Human Resources team. This is a key execution role, working closely with business partners to provide strong planning, ideation and execution support, ensuring our leaders and employees are well-informed, engaged and contributing to IGM’s success.

The role requires a thorough understanding of the business strategies across IGM, effective collaboration with business leaders (including HR Business Partners/Centres of Expertise as partners), along with an external focus to integrate leading practices and leverage networks of high-performing companies.

The Manager role is an individual contributor, based in Toronto.

Key Accountabilities:
Manage the internal communications planning and execution for department-specific and enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives, working directly with senior leaders and their teams to drive a world-class employee experience
Identify and produce required supporting collateral such as key messages, written communications, speaking notes and other products
Partner with HR to support communication and change management for talent programs across all channels/platforms
Support leadership offsite meetings and activities to support and enhance our corporate culture
Foster collaboration with Marketing and digital teams to leverage all digital channels to converge and optimize integrated communications that drives IGM’s strategy and goals
Manage the various internal stakeholder requirements needed to implement plans
Demonstrate eagerness to learn about and advise on new internal and external communication practices and technology developments
Ensure that communication channels, both upward and downward, are open by proactively soliciting feedback from staff regarding communication methods
Create, monitor and report on metrics using existing and new technology; identify areas for improvement

Education, Experience and Leadership Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree Professional Communications or College diploma in Communications/Public Relations required; additional designation is an asset
Minimum 5 years’ experience in employee or corporate communications
Superior research, writing and editing skills that drive compelling content across multiple channels and platforms (digital, print and in-person)
Superior relationship building skills, with an ability to influence and partner with business leaders on complex and often time-sensitive initiatives
Outstanding organizational and project management skills to manage schedules, deadlines, and multiple concurrent projections within site and ongoing campaigns
Strong time management skills with minimal need for oversight
Strong attention to detail
Results-driven approach to and understanding of content creation and engagement for web and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Trusted to understand and manage sensitive communication issues and challenges
