Strength & Conditioning Intern
The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific (CSI Pacific) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual for the position of Strength & Conditioning Intern. Reporting to the Whistler Facility Lead, the Strength & Conditioning Intern will join our world class Strength and Conditioning Program and gain exposure to a variety of winter sports, supporting the application of high performance training programs.

CORE OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Enhance Daily Training environment through integration of Strength and Conditioning Services
Monitor for CSI Pacific programs
SUPPORTING OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Conduct applied projects with the potential to impact the Daily Training Environment & enhance interns knowledgebase
Complete assessments of learning when required
Interns will assist with strength and conditioning operations, including helping to run testing, monitoring, setting up and leading training sessions, and working on special projects to further their knowledge.
B.Sc in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or other sport science related degree; working towards a Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or an international equivalent.
Olympic Weightlifting coaching certification is preferred.
Experience with MS Excel.
Understanding of statistical procedures will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with sport performance laboratory will be considered an asset.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Bilingualism is an asset.
Background as a coach and/or elite athlete will be considered an asset.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of independence and initiative.
Good team building skills and the ability to be flexible and adjust to changing priorities.
Full-time (35-40 hours/week) position from May to September 2019 (dates are negotiable). This position is based out of our Whistler campus and some travel to other training locations will be expected. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
