SNOW SCHOOL DIRECTOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Recreation Programmer/Recreation Coordinator, this role plans, organizes and implements a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Provides supervision, guidance and coaching to staff and volunteers. Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of registered participants at all times. Provides direction to Ski and Snowboard Instructors.

Assist with recruiting, supervising, coaching and evaluating staff
Assist with developing, delivering and documenting staff trainings and meetings
Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating programs for all levels of participants
Assist at all snow school functions, special events, competitions, etc.
Review daily lesson sheets for instructors, identify changes, review with administration and rental shop
Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. staff and program schedules, payroll, uniform distribution and contracts and incident/accident reports)
Prepare information package for lesson program participants (what to expect, phone-in procedures, LEVEL and STEP information)
Handle program feedback in a professional manner by providing exceptional customer service
Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
Attend meetings/training as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Prepare and maintain an inventory of ski school equipment.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
Minimum 18 years of age
Level 1, 2 or 3 Certification from Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance (CSIA) or Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI), considered an asset.
Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of start date
High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification and QUEST 2 Certification, considered an asset
Exceptional customer service and communication skills

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.

Job status: Part-time

Hourly rate: $17.00
