About This Opportunity

The collaborative care team at Wagmatcook Health Centre (WHC) is seeking a part-time family physician to join their team in the Wagmatcook – First Nation community. This is a multi-disciplinary team that consists of four full-time nurses (three registered nurses and one licensed nurse practitioner), one dietician, and four social workers (two child/adolescent and two adult).

The successful candidate will be working closely with physicians at the nearby Victoria County Memorial Hospital in Baddeck. Inpatient care and emergency department coverage is optional.

examine patients, take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
consult and refer to other medical practitioners
act as a patient advocate
prescribe and administer medications, treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
report births, deaths, and contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected Hours
part-time (0.5 FTE)
physician can work any 3 days of the week between Monday and Friday
all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
all family physician must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
