Reporting to the Supervisor, Transit Inventory this position works closely with Corporate Purchasing and is responsible for ordering, receiving, warehousing, distribution, costing of parts, material, and services as may be required by Transit Services. Duties will include but not be restricted to:

Job Responsibilities:
Will be required to work shifts
Provide parts, supplies, and/or services required for work orders or requisitions requested by mechanics, Supervisors, Managers or staff as required.
Obtain vendor quotations where required, and perform the necessary release of goods and services against blanket orders and perform the procurement of non-blanket or contract needs.
Attend to the ordering/receiving of various commodities, services and supplies, safety gear, uniforms, including but not limited to, bus parts, truck/automotive parts and small equipment parts, hand, power, and shop machine tools, lubricants and hardware.
Pickup, deliver or arrange for pickup or delivery of goods at various vendors if so directed or needed.
Ensure that proper stock levels are maintained.
Create and manage, work orders, purchase orders, and maintain accurate stock records utilizing the Town’s electronic Corporate Information System, J.D.Edwards.
Receive to and issue from inventory – with proper record keeping, either manually or electronically, all materials and supplies.
Reconcile receipt/pricing of goods with packing slip and follows up on any discrepancies.
Off load deliverables either manually or where able a forklift and in the case of warranty issues, properly secure items for shipping back to vender.
Maintain accurate records for the pricing and control of stock inventory and consumable goods.
Cost work orders and outside services for parts and labour and prepare reports as directed/required within a manual or electronic system.
Perform necessary entries, electronically and/or manually to inventory records, cost ledgers, fuel and fleet system(s).
Generate reports from the various computer programs as required by management, supervisory staff or designate.
Assist in performing year-end physical counts, including selection, counting, data entry, update and reconciliation.
Perform periodic cycle counts.
Maintain list of active warranties and be familiar with them.
Create warranty claims using various systems for parts and/or vehicle manufacturer warranties as per the warranty requirements
Ensure receipt of warranty claim payments and follow up as required.
Provide warranty reports as required.
Utilize a computerized system environment to perform data entry and data search using J.D. Edward which is the Corporate Information System (CIS), Microsoft Office Suite, and programs as may be required.
Perform maintenance and upkeep of blanket order file and master parts catalogue.
Maintain clean, organized stockroom, with proper shelving and labeling of goods and assist/perform the maintenance and cleaning of appropriate Stores areas.
Maintain effective, helpful relations with staff, vendors, and other departments, ensuring ethical and professional purchasing practices.

Qualifications/Skills:
Minimum of Grade 12 education plus College certificate in automotive parts and warehousing or 2 years related study.
Completion of Level 1 with the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) or CAPICS inventory control an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Card Forklift Certification, and Fuel Handling Attendant Certification required.
3-5 years of related experience in the transit or automotive sector, reconciliation of financial records, data entry, ordering and receiving parts/materials, keyboarding and inventory control.
Proficient skills in computerized maintenance management systems (preferably JD Edwards), Microsoft office suite and the internet are required.
Mathematical competencies for reconciliation of invoices, balancing of PCOS on a monthly basis, price checking, material acquisitions and measuring areas, use of percentages, ratios, averages, formulas and conversions.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of urban transit buses, automotive and supplies in addition to an ability to use manufacturer’s catalogues, both hard and soft copies.
Must possess an understanding of the Highway Traffic Act and knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, MSDS (updates MSDS binders), CSA, SAE, Safety Standards, Corporate By-Laws (Purchasing and others), Gasoline Handling Act, Fire Code, Building Code, amongst others.
Demonstrated effective organization, communication, both oral and written, customer service (public and staff) and problem solving skills.
Proficient time management skills and ability to multi-task are essential.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Must possess valid and unrestricted Class G minimum with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behavior. Note: Applicants with 6 or more points are ineligible for consideration. The successful applicant will be required to provide the Corporation with a current drivers abstract (no older than 30 days) prior to assuming the position.
