Under the general supervision of the Chief Estimator, the Senior Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for leading and preparing Bid Schedules and providing guidance and support to the pursuit and operations teams in the estimating and planning of various Contracts. The Senior Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for the production and development of detailed, resource loaded project schedules, gathering and interpreting project data from both internal and external sources. This position is currently based out of our Vancouver office but could be transitioned into a site position if required. Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze bid documents to understand project scope of work, timelines, and submission requirements.
Gathering and interpreting project data from both internal and external sources.
Develop a detailed schedule with minimal supervision by reviewing the project drawings.
Plan and schedule the work in a manner to meet project milestones and communicate any challenges to the management team.
Schedule the most appropriate period or season to execute works in while minimizing impacts on the environment.
Review and integrate third party schedules into a project master schedule.
Resource load the schedule with estimated quantities, hours, and cost and resource level the schedule.
Develop cash flows based on control estimates and project schedules. Develop cash forecasting and revenue draws as directed.
Develop a realistic and optimized project critical path that defines the project duration.
Assure that all schedules developed by Aecon follow the Standard Project Coding Systems and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Activity Coding System, and Activity ID numbering System.
Create a schedule that follows industry best practices.
Identify high risk activities within the schedule and assist in development of a project Risk Registers for new contracts and provide Risk impact analysis support for active work.
Identify schedule considerations and problems resulting from interdisciplinary or group restraints and interfaces.
Write detailed and informative Schedule Narratives documenting how the schedule was developed and any assumptions made.
Ability to create and maintain P6 schedules efficiently by utilizing excel Import and Export functionalities.
Work closely with the Project teams for handing over the schedules to project schedulers and assisting them in establishing project baselines.
Monitor, review, and analyze the schedule and status during all phases of the project, including the analysis of any schedule deviations and corrective actions.
Maintain schedule forecast throughout the project life cycle.
Question subcontractors' schedules, while forecasting and trending completion target dates to ensure contractor plans are realistic and achievable. Reports serious deviations accordingly.
Monitor and report critical path and schedule performance of the total project.
Assist with project schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule and seek the advice of the Contracts Manager.
Provide the Project team with timely, informed, and up-to-date project schedule information including trends and forecasts as well as progress, schedule and planning input to the weekly, Bi-weekly and monthly project reports.
Review and analyze comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between the projects.

Required Knowledge & Skills
5-10 years of experience in project planning/scheduling in the Heavy Civil / Infrastructure construction industry
Experience in the Heavy Civil / Infrastructure sector is required
Highly proficient in Primavera P6
A good understanding of Heavy Civil / Infrastructure constructability issues
Able to schedule and track multiple projects from concept to completion
Able to read, understand and interpret drawings and contracts
Able to plan complex Infrastructure projects with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills - oral and written
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Self-motivated with good organizational skills
Ability to work well with others as a team
Open to travel to job sites and project assignments
Post-secondary education would be considered an asset
