As the City of Edmonton continues to advance and innovate, we are seeking a Finance Manager, Performance Reporting & Corporate Programs to draft and present timely and accurate financial reporting to support the organization. This includes providing monthly updates on financial performance identifying financial opportunities, potential risks and recommended strategies for the organization. Additionally, the Finance Manager will provide quarterly organizational performance reporting to City Council for information and decision making. As the Finance Manager, you will:
Develop corporate reporting timelines for the monthly financial reporting and close process to ensure that accurate information is available for monthly reporting to senior leadership and quarterly performance reporting for City Council
Provide ongoing leadership and coordination of corporate financial reporting relating to operating, identification of risks and opportunities, variance and trend analysis and related presentations to provide the organization’s financial reporting information
Evaluate historical information, current and projected financial results, providing information to assist with the decision making process for the Executive Leadership Team and City Council
Lead a number of financial corporate initiatives including internal and external research, analysis, drafting of recommendations and policy development
Oversee the preparation of the budget for corporate programs liasing with the budget office to ensure appropriate and consistent reporting of the budget and assessment and taxation
Complete financial sections of externally published reports to citizens, including the financial statement discussion and analysis for the City’s financial annual report
Network and maintain corporate relationships among various areas within finance and across the organization
Build workforce capacity through coaching, mentoring, recognizing accomplishments and motivating employees to deliver peak performance
Demonstrate the ability to model the Cultural Commitments of Safe; Helpful; Accountable; Integrated; and Excellent, and inspire the same in others
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) is required
The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years related financial management experience, including knowledge in the areas of financial performance reporting and strategic planning
Extensive knowledge in the area of strategic planning, including analysis, budgeting and financial reporting at a corporate level in a large, complex organization
Strong leadership, facilitation, collaborative planning and team building capabilities attributing to the achievement of key business goals
Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills
