Varied term and auxiliary positions. Instructors may be required to teach in a variety of courses and/or programs, including multi-level English for Academic Purposes, Business English or Grad-Prep. Instructors may be assigned to teach in the Writing Centre, ELC Learning Centre or provide instructional ESL support for MBA and other academic students. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional training, subject currency, and institutional service.
Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.

Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Meet TESL Canada criteria equivalent to Professional Standard One (Permanent). Have teaching English As a Second Language training and qualifications through an accredited institution. Recent documented experience (minimum 1000 hours) teaching adult ESL and/or EFL. Familiarity with relevant computer applications. Successful candidates will be either native speakers of the language to be taught or able to demonstrate native level competency. Verification of fluency may be requested.
Master's Degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. ESL teaching experience at Vancouver Island University. Second language learning experience. International experience.
