Seaspan is looking for a Manager, Business Solutions to join the team. This role will provide leadership to the BI/Analytics Team, the Data Team and the Business Application Support Team. This newly created position plays a pivotal role in in embarking on Seaspan’s journey of Digital Transformation. This role will jump off the foundational initiatives that are now underway to create data platforms, data governance and an Analytics/BI framework to support organizational growth. This position is responsible for the management of daily activities of the Data Team which is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of Seaspan’s enterprise data warehouse systems and related services (i.e. ETL, data marts).


Leading a team of BI Developers, Data Scientists and Analysts partner with all departments to deliver ‘fit for use’ business intelligence solutions to enable the business to achieve their strategic, tactical & operational goals and objectives.
Oversees activities pertaining to support & enhancements of critical industry specific business services and applications.
In leading the BI/Analytics Team, this role will establish and evolve BI / Report Governance within Seaspan.
Act as a strategic partner who can lead discussions and influence decisions with business leaders and their teams to determine how business intelligence tools/solutions can accelerate business strategies.
Consult with business leaders to shape requirements to deliver actionable insights.
Architect, design, implement and monitor ‘best practice’ Business Intelligence framework, Enterprise Data Warehouse platforms, including but not limited to ETL processes as well as middle ware layers between transactional systems.
Triage and assess complex adhoc and new requests, prioritize and assign to team members.
Shape and accelerate the execution of the evolving business intelligence roadmap/strategy.
Lead the design, development, testing, adoption, and support of all BI strategic projects.
As the leader of the Data team, deliver a “One Version of the Truth” approach to all data used within the organization keeping it simple and consistent across all divisions.
Lead the Business Application Support team by developing and enhancing business application support models for various SAAS and on-prem business application eco-systems (incl. roles and responsibilities for application support levels 1,2,3 etc.).
Provide leadership and guidance for tactical and strategic business application road maps in alignment with Seaspan’s Enterprise Architecture stance and principles.
Sustainment and scalability planning for business applications.
Development of cost-benefit, ROI and TCO business cases for optimal utilization of resources.
Collaboration with the IT Infrastructure teams where business applications are hosted in the cloud.
As a member of the IT Management team, the Manager, Business Solutions will represent Business Solutions team in various governance / steering committees pertaining to core suites of business services, as well as other business applications.
Lead and participate in major contract negotiations (custom build agreements, support agreements).
Contribute to the development of the Annual Operating Plan and Capital Plan.
Manage the budget to ensure effective use of resources and ensure team is operating within assigned resources.
Manage Application Support team, including resource allocation and provide mentorship and guidance to team members to support their career development plan.


BS in Programming, Application Development
In-depth, intermediate experience in programming / development
4+ years’ experience in people management
5+ years’ advanced, demonstrable knowledge and experience through the various methods/approaches and governances to application development (i.e. waterfall / agile / dev ops)
ITIL Foundations, PMP HDI Support Center Manager
