North West Redwater Partnership is a joint venture between North West Upgrading Inc. and Canadian Natural Resources Limited, with each company owning 50% stake in the Partnership. The Partnership operates a world class bitumen refinery in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland, which adds significant value to bitumen resources in a responsible and sustainable manner. As a member of the Maintenance & Reliability (M&R) team, the primary responsibility of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is to improve work force productivity and work quality by eliminating, in advance, potential delays and obstacles through proper planning and coordination of parts, tools, equipment access and skilled labor resources.
This role is considered a “Super User” of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and has additional responsibilities for maintaining master data integrity of the CMMS and related systems supporting M&R’s business requirements. As a “Super User” the Planner/Scheduler role may also be called upon to do occasional training as required.
The NWR Planner/Schedulers act as leads for their discipline to set/maintain the planning standard for their discipline. As a discipline lead they manage the backlogs and work distribution amongst the contract planning support team.
In addition to the M&R team this role will work collaboratively across the organization with Operations teams, as well as engineering disciplines, SCM, IT and contractors.
Plan all routine maintenance work for the respective Planner/Scheduler’s discipline regardless of whether the work is to be executed “on-stream” or during an “outage”.
Ensure Work Order data accuracy and integrity at outset, e.g. location/asset tag, description of work, correct account and/or AFE #.
Work closely with the SCM team to obtain quotes for price and delivery.
Manage “start no earlier than” rough cut dates in Work Ordersnt, e.g. aligning dates with vendor availability.
Write AFE’s for RiK work in accordance with NWR’s major maintenance policy.
Manage planning backlog, work distribution, and quality amongst contract planners and have regular meetings with the contract support team to maintain alignment.
Set and maintain the standard for planning for their discipline.
Act as key stakeholder to Management of Change (MOC) process to input to design changes for maintainability/reliability considerations, assisting in development of cost estimates and planning of the resulting MOC Work Orders.
Own the library of CM and PM Job Plans (JP), create new JP’s/Checksheets as required and make all JP updates based on feedback from Technicians.
Maintains the PM system in conjunction with the Reliability Engineer.
Maintain accurate Equipment Parts Lists (EPL’s) in conjunction with Inventory Analyst.
Generate new item master change requests for additions or deletions to EPL’s.
Make recommendations to stock or not to stock for item master.
Coordinate with Document Management/M&R Clerk for proper document management for planning and history (Content Server linkage).
Maintain and deliver higher level CMMS training as driven by staffing changes.
Participate in M&R systems/business process/standards continuous improvement opportunities identification and implementation.
Backfill the Scheduler role when required:
Facilitate daily update and weekly scheduling meetings.
Create and maintain routine plant maintenance schedule.
Generate baseline data for KPI reporting (including Manpower capacity).
Planning and Scheduling business processes.

Bill of Materials, Equipment Parts Lists, materials and inventory processes.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong interpersonal, analytical and facilitation skills.
Effective communications both in verbal and written format
Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff and management
Proficient using a ERP / CMMS
Skilled user of “Maximo” would be an asset
Passionate “owner” of master data integrity
Proficient in Microsoft office applications: Excel, Word and Outlook
Manage multiple task assignments in a matrix organization.
Ability to work to deadlines and schedules
Strong Maintenance and Reliability background
+10 years trades experience would be an asset
+5 years planning experience would be an asset or
+5 years Field Supervision/Coordination
