Education: A degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or mechanical engineering is strongly preferred

Experience: Must have experience in the sale of high-performance capital equipment products. Experience with CRM sales management tools is important. Strong presentation skills are a must.

Travel: Approximately 70%+ of position involves travel within assigned territory (GTA). Some travel nationally and internationally (E.g. to U.S. and Germany for meetings and training)

Languages: Fluent in English and French

Other: Must be eligible to work in Canada and travel internationally (valid driver’s license and passport)

VACUUBRAND is looking for an experienced Sales & Technical Service Representative to help further penetrate the North American market with an equipment product that is the technology leader. The product is made by the European sales leader, our affiliated company, and is sold to scientific customers, OEM instrumentation designers, and in scientific building markets.

Position Summary

VACUUBRAND is looking for a Bilingual Sales & Technical Service Representative who has the education and professional maturity to interact effectively with the engineering teams of equipment and instrument designers, scientific end-users, and A/E firms engaged in design of science buildings. The Bilingual Sales & Technical Service Representative will plan, direct and coordinate direct sales and services for the vacuum technology product line, achieving maximum sales volume and profitability in the geographic region consistent with VACUUBRAND company policy and objectives. This includes authorized direct to market and technical sales within Canada.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Strong technical skills and basic hands-on mechanical aptitude
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Sales experience with long lead-time design/development projects
  • A willingness to travel extensively

The successful candidate must also have strong technical and relationship building skills, be driven, a self-starter, entrepreneurial, hands-on, flexible, and willing to travel extensively within his/her territory.

Sales Plan Execution

  • Responsible for working independently to identify opportunities, assess customer needs (including product adaptations required, if any), products throughout Canada, specifically the Toronto region
  • Responsible for communicating the customer requirements to the internal engineering team, and developing and maintaining the sales relationship over an extended timeline including specific actions needed to hit various approved objectives
  • Must function as an effective member of a small, focused sales team, representing the company at trade shows and interacting with team members elsewhere in the country
  • Meets or exceeds the key performance goals set by management
  • Researches and maintains current knowledge of key accounts/customers as well as competing products, competition strategies and pricing models
  • Utilization of CRM system to properly manage new and existing customers through the sales process
  • Properly manage time to sell capital instruments

Education/Work Experience

  • A degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, physics, or mechanical engineering is strongly preferred
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in sales of laboratory equipment/capital sales

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent ability to develop a comprehensive sales plan
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French
  • Good administrative and management abilities
  • Ability to use computer applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Ability to work remotely and be a self-starter
  • Ability to work well with others and cross functional teams
  • Ability to acquire new skills and to accommodate change in the workplace
