At the Department of Community Services (DCS), we are a large and diverse department providing a broad portfolio of programs and services including Child and Family Wellbeing (CFW), Employment Support Services(ESS), Income Assistance (IA), Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and Disability Support Program(DSP).

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Clerk provides support to over 1500 users of the Department's case management systems (eg. ICM/ CCM). This position responds to a high volume of inquiries from Service Delivery users, Community Services, other government Departments, along with external resources.
As the Clerk, you will record and respond to all inquiries, perform client maintenance changes on the system, set up system security access for users, and assist users in navigating the system. You are a critical support and key to maintaining the integrity of the system. We count on your expertise to assist with system audits, testing enhancements to the system, and preparing statistical reports. You may also work with and support work within the CAR ( Child Abuse Registry) unit.
As the Clerk, you are critical in providing accurate information to Case Managers and responding to requests in a timely manner; ensuring there are no impacts to services for Nova Scotians.
You will have four (4) years of related experience.
You have a strong work ethic with the ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and respond to frequent internal and external requests under pressure. A good understanding of client service principles, methods, and delivery techniques to support system users in an operational environment. You have experience supporting case management systems and web-based applications. Previous experience working in an environment with sensitive personal data is essential.
You have excellent team, interpersonal, organizational, communication (both written and verbal) and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing software and systems, spreadsheets, and databases is required.
The following would be viewed as assets including previous experience with ICM/CCM, SharePoint and experience working in a technology driven operational environment. A good working knowledge of the policies, procedures, practices, and services offered by Community Services is also considered an asset.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
An equivalent combination of relevant training and experience will be considered. Related equivalencies include, but are not limited to:
- A completed related bachelors degree
- A completed related diploma and two (2) years of experience

Work is performed primarily in an open office environment. This role requires repetitive tasks on regular basis; good hand dexterity for continual phone and computer use is beneficial. This role also requires a high level of visual and mental concentration.
There is a high degree of pressure present while maintaining accuracy and balancing the volume of work and meeting deadlines.
This is a term opportunity with an anticipated end date of March 15, 2024. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: CL 18
Salary Range: $1,675.62 - $1,874.80 Bi-Weekly
