SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Summit Decommissioning Services (SDS) Division as a Senior Project Manager (Competition #19-11-0342) in the Calgary, Alberta office. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager, Summit Decommissioning Services.

JOB DUTIES:

You will carry out your duties in consultation with the Operations Manager, SDS on all matters. The primary duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing projects for the oil and gas, power and utilities, land development, and renewable energy sectors;
  • Provide direction and support to project managers that have day to day control of the work and work phases;
  • Adherence to the program budget and schedule;
  • Responsibility for upholding financial systems on behalf of the program owner, oversee change management processes on behalf of SDS;
  • Oversee client reporting and be the direct point of communication to the client;
  • Having the awareness to know when to involve your supervisor in appropriate matters, and to arbitrate disputes as necessary at the field level;
  • Having the ability to monitor costs and the progress of the projects, with the main focus being completing the projects on time and within agreed budget;
  • Consultation and engagement with members of an expert, multi-disciplinary technical team for project support when necessary

You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of technical administrators, business development professionals, an in-house IT department and many other highly experienced, skilled and educated professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum 10 years of relevant experience in construction, well servicing, and decommissioning would be considered an asset
  • Experience managing staff preferred
  • Project Management Professional Certification is an asset
  • A University degree (BSc or MSc) in Engineering preferred
  • Registered member of APEGA or an applicable Pro-10 Association
  • PMP certification and/or the ability to demonstrate similar skills
  • Experience managing up to 8 direct reports and teams of 40 people or more
  • Candidates must be prepared to work in a multidisciplinary, fast paced project team environment
  • Ability to represent Summit during discussions with internal and external clients
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience with project management software

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

  • Strong Project Management experience

o Experience with managing earthworks contracting as well as environmental science in harmony to ensure project execution is optimized and on budget

o Pro-actively identifying pinch points and implementing corrective action

o Experience with progress reporting on large scale projects

§ Spend to date versus budget, work completion reporting in comparison to work planned, forwarding looking work to be completed, assessment of performance in progress summaries

· Confident, capable and productive in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced project team environment
