We are currently seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistantto join our Torontoteam. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who enjoys taking on a lot of responsibilities. This position offers a broad range of responsibilities that will utilize one’s strong litigation and practice management skills.

The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong communication and organizational skills, with a desire to take ownership over assigned tasks.

In this role, your responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Practice administration: including managing email and calendar accounts, electronic/hard copy filing, processing client accounts
  • Drafting, preparing and proof-reading of correspondence, accounts, various litigation documents (e.g. pleadings, briefs), and court forms;
  • Preparing and maintaining a bring-forward system to diarize court and court filing dates, meetings, and appointments;
  • Filtering incoming calls/mail/email and following-up on various information requests, including responding to client queries, and re-routing responses appropriately to ensure high level of client service and responsiveness;
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you possess:

  • Community College Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent combination of experience;
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experienceas a Litigation Legal Assistant. Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure is required;
  • Excellent organizational/follow up skills; attention to detail, proofreading and accuracy are required;
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to day-to-day workflow is considered an asset;
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary.
