Our team of engineers, developers and designers are focused on creating compelling experiences and cutting-edge automation platforms for building managers and residents, revolutionizing this space for the future.

Our smart studio is conveniently located on Saint-Joseph Street, Gatineau, and is steps away from restaurants, breweries, bakeries, cafés, a grocery store and a CrossFit gym. We are within walking distance of local bus routes and offer free parking. We will also be installing a bike rack in the spring.

1Valet is looking for a highly-skilled Senior UX Designer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of User Experience, you will help establish and sustain a design-centric culture within 1Valet. As a senior member of our team, you will also have the opportunity to coach and mentor junior designers.

Essential skills:
Emotional intelligence

6+ years experience designing web or mobile applications

Experience working in an agile environment

Knowledge of product design process

Advocate of user-centered design principles

Experience leading design workshops

Exemplary communication and collaboration skills

Excellent presentation skills

Ability to articulate design rationale to members of the product team and stakeholders

Critical thinking skills with the ability to challenge ideas respectfully

Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team

Ability to manage time and understand how to organize and share ideas

Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Invision and Framer

Strong leadership and time management skills

Excited to learn new skills and share your knowledge with others

Nice to have:
Experience designing for connected devices

Experience working in an early phase start-up

Knowledge of user testing platforms

Understanding of design research methodologies

Bilingual French/English

Lead the conceptualization of designs by translating business goals, technological constraints and user needs into simple yet meaningful experiences

Champion user-centered design principles within 1Valet (and beyond) through education and awareness initiatives, such as Lunch & Learn sessions

Help define product vision

Identify and support the use of UX methodologies, tools and processes to gather user needs and define product requirements

Facilitate brainstorming sessions, discovery and co-design workshops with 1Valet team members

Conduct user research studies using qualitative and design methods

Create UX research reports with supporting artefacts such as personas, empathy maps, journey maps, as a means to synthesize and share findings across the organization

Produce sketches, storyboards, end-to-end flows, wireframes, visual mockups, clickable prototypes and specification documents for mobile and web applications, as well as hardware components such as entry consoles

Create usability test plans for both moderated and unmoderated sessions with end users

Capture feedback from users, developers, product management and other stakeholders to test and iterate through design solutions

Collaborate with the product development team to ensure flawless implementation of your designs throughout the production process

Present your work to stakeholders for review and feedback
