Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Manager, Produce Supply Chain & Quality Assurance on a permanent basis at our office in Calgary, Alberta.

Our Food team plays an important role in serving the needs of approximately 170 local co-ops and their members and customers from Vancouver Island to Eastern Manitoba. What you’ll do:
You will be responsible for the strategic procurement of produce to ensure quality control standards are achieved and support the service level targets for the entire Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). You will act as a resource for retails to access information regarding specific quality issues, warehouse and supply chain problems, and necessary tools required to achieve budgeted results and maintain high quality. You will also be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a 95% or better service level to our customers while meeting shrink, claims, long-stock and reclamation targets.
Product Supply Chain Strategy: You will be responsible for the development and the execution of FCL’s produce supply chain strategy. This includes, developing strategies to ensure product is procured from various growing regions in a way that maximizes efficiencies, freshness and quality. This also includes ensuring FCL’s Centre Led procurement strategies are incorporated into our produce supply chain strategies, developing consolidation centers in key growing regions, collaborating with logistics to optimize shipping lanes and optimizing crossdocking between FCL’s distribution centers.
Produce Buying: You will oversee buyers to ensure appropriate strategies and processes are in place to achieve targeted fill rates, ensure shrink is well managed and that quality specs are in place and adhered to. You will also be responsible for the training and development programs for the Produce Buyers and Quality Assurance Supervisors that are increasingly focused on the end customer and the CRS.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: You will be responsible for ensuring that established product specifications are met and approve all rejected loads. You will also collaborate with industry agencies to protect FCL against any loss as a result of any changes in government regulations. This includes managing all produce recalls as they happen, working with the CFIA to approve requests for inspections and ensuring correct standards are applied. You will also visit vendors and local growers to ensure that they are following our standards and ensuring the safety of our food.

Who you are:
You are a proven strategic business leader seeking an opportunity to develop and deliver a vibrant, sustainable E Commerce solution to the CRS.
You have a Bachelor’s Degree.
You have a minimum of 10+ years of relevant progressively responsible experience. Directly related industry, or E-Commerce Business development experience is an asset (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
