We are currently seeking a Senior Process Designer to join our Process team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Process lead, the designer will prepare drawings and models for process facilities from inception to completion.
This role will be for an initial 12 month contract, with the possibility of extension.
What does this role involve?
Mineral process plant layout including piping and platework, 3D modelling and detailed engineering drawings from conceptual sketches through to detailed design, under direction of engineers or a Lead Designer
Demonstrate high standard of personal safety and safety in design practices
Good knowledge of mineral processing layouts
Understanding of materials handling, concrete and structural steel componentry
Ensure drafting and review processes are completed. Review drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with Sedgman and client specifications and standards
Support the continuous improvement of design systems used by the organisation and investigate new drafting techniques and drafting equipment and recommend changes to standard practices
Participate in the review of designs and advise on technical drafting difficulties
Ensure project time and cost are met - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project execution plan (schedule) and client expectations
Generate 3D models from Laser Scans using Recap
Generate PFD’s and P&ID’s
Being able to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
Contribute technical and design assistance to provide engineering design solutions in consultation with engineers or a Lead Designer
What are we looking for in our future team member?
At least 10 years’ experience in design/consultancy/operational environment
Technical school certification/ degree or equivalent experience
Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team including process, mechanical, civil structural, electrical, instrumentation and piping
3D modelling using AutoCAD, Advance Steel / Prosteel, Plant 3D, Navisworks, or similar package experience
Mining and heavy industry experience would be highly advantageous
Familiar with Laser scan/Point Cloud technology to create 3D model
Understanding of applicable government regulations and regulatory codes
Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members
Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
