We are growing! Celtrade Canada has an immediate need for a Production Lead Hand to join our team and work out of our SQF Level 2 Mississauga Facility.

This exciting new opportunity is open for our Day & afternoon shift:

  • Day shift is from 5:00am to 4:00pm
  • Afternoon shift is from 4:00pm to 1:30am

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Production supervisor, a Production Lead Hand is responsible for the support of all production positions and allows for the continuous operation of the manufacturing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with scheduling and production planning
  • Ensures all equipment is operating properly, takes appropriate actions to correct any issues
  • Monitors and documents downtime, quality, safety, and other issues in a timely manner
  • When needed, performs machine operator, labeling, packaging, and general labour tasks on the production line
  • Contributes to a healthy work environment, while maintaining high food safety and health and safety standards
  • Champions and upholds department standards as a role model for other employees
  • Oversees and directs the daily work in support of the Production Supervisor
  • Take action to correct any issues and make improvements
  • Leads the department to meet targets and goals on product attainment; maintaining direct labour variance; ensuring labour headcount is within standards; ensures all equipment runs at required speed per standards
  • Ensures product is being produced to required quality specifications, SQF and other food safety standards
  • Ensures sanitation is being performed per required standards
  • Directly helps the department to meet targets and goals while maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
  • Maintains productivity and labour efficiency that meets/exceeds standards
  • Dedicated to creating a high-quality product that consistently meets product specifications
  • Leads and contributes to the team and the whole facility in a positive way
  • Acts as a back up to the Production Supervisor when required
  • Perform other responsibilities as required

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITY & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to direct the work of others while maintaining composure in a fast-paced environment
  • 1 to 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills, able to speak and read English
  • Able to perform all tasks within the department including lifting
  • Able to lift up to 20kgs
  • Able to stand and walk throughout the shift
  • Able to work weekends as required
  • Punctual, reliable and responsible
  • Can work well in a team environment and support fellow team members
  • First Aid trained or willing to obtain certification
  • Basic computer skills including Excel and Word
