The Environmental Services Supervisor supports the Manager with the planning, leadership and daily operation of Environmental Services for the Foothills Medical Centre. This Environmental Services Supervisor position monitors established budgets, tracks key performance targets, identifies efficiencies and promotes optimal use of resources while making recommendations on current and future service adjustments to staff, budget and service delivery models. The Supervisor has direct responsibility for all patient discharge, isolation and equipment cleaning. This position also ensures the collection of general, bio-medical, chemical and organic waste as well as shredding waste recycling collection; ensuring all legislative and regulatory compliance is met. This position impacts all departments within the Foothills Medical Centre site. Housekeeping is a vital service and has a huge impact on patient care.
This Environmental Services Supervisor position oversees Environmental Services 24/7 operation for over a 1,000 bed Acute Care Facility. This position oversees over 141 FTEs on day shift during the week and weekends. This position is the first point of contact to problem solve with frontline employees and unit/program staff and ensures quality service standards are met. Interviews, hires and terminates all employees. Ensures all new staff are orientated and trained, approves payroll and completes all probationary and annual performance reviews. Meets regularly with clinical customers to maintain sound relationships, reviews performance and manages escalated issues. Analyzes the financial status of the department. Prepares a monthly variance report outlining issues and providing recommendations to maintain a balanced budget. Ensures that appropriate quality and safety measures are in place and compatible with IPC and OHS industry and provincial standards. Monitors service performance utilizing KPis and reports variances and initiates corrective action as required. Ensures Manager/Director as appropriate are informed of and aware of significant events and/or activities within the facility.

Diploma in Health Care or Business Administration; Degree preferred. Must have a minimum 5 years' experience in a senior supervisory position in a Health Care setting overseeing 100+ staff. Advanced computer skills required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Must have excellent knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals and housekeeping equipment. Must have solid knowledge of all IPC best practices and protocols in regard to all surface cleaning and outbreak management. Able to host regular staff meetings and be comfortable speaking to large groups. Experience in managing unionized staff required. Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly at all times with various levels of leadership and front-line staff. Must be able to function with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrate critical thinking skills and have the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals.
