As an experienced CPQ Solutions Architect, your mission is to help lead our team of innovators and technologists toward creating next-generation solutions that improve the way Ciena is run. CPQ Solution Architect, IT Sales is a self motivated, detail-oriented person experienced in working with corporate sales. Services, & marketing teams. Responsibilities will include improving the current CPQ process and technology infrastructure, optimizing business operations, and setting direction and approach for integrating information applications and processes
This role requires long term thinking, ability to influence strategic decision making around technology, process, and culture. The successful candidate will have excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be versed in IT CPQ tools and processes that support and enhance the efficiency of a global sales & services teams including account managers, marketing staff, and sales engineers.
Through effective relationship management you will stimulate and shape demand for capabilities to enhance the Sales Team effectiveness. Building business cases, process and architecture roadmaps will be a key component of success. Partnering with IT development teams and Service Managers to provide comprehensive solutions to Ciena business teams will be primary focus of this role.
Lead decision making on how technology can be used to solve a given business problem

Ensure solutions will scale for the future and how they will be maintained
Suggest best practice ideas to reduce costs & risks in IT and business leadership
Actively listen to client problems and needs to implement that information when creating solution plans
Collaborate with project managers and other staff members to develop budgets and timelines for solutions
Assess and evaluate risk as required
Educate business partners about technology, processes, integrations, and capabilities.
Establish communication processes and channels across business functions.
Measure and communicate business value realized with the business partner on a periodic basis.
Learn by keeping skills updated and remain proactively aware of happenings and current events in the industry
Drive automation and data quality throughout the systems and processes that drive Sales, Marketing, Partners, and Services
Map business/functional requirements to system/technical requirements
Communicate risks clearly regarding existing and concurrent projects
Partner with other architects to provide a consensus-based enterprise solutions
Adhere and promote best practices related to solution design, development, documentation, and adoption
Provide input and solution guidance to the development team
Create and manage solution related documentation
Grow employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise through the development of training material and mentoring
Required Technical/Soft Skills & Experience
SFDC CPQ architecture experience.
CPQ process design experience
Multiple Salesforce platform certifications
Experience working with Sales Engineers & understanding configuration tools
Ability to learn custom Ciena CPQ solutions that support Sales Engineering
Experience with senior roles in Salesforce implementation projects
Experience with multiple project deliveries using Salesforce platform solutions
Experience integrating Salesforce with various other platforms using different technologies
Understanding of security predicates from various aspects – both access and data level
Experience working with Salesforce app-exchange products and fully understand the
Experience working with Salesforce app-exchange products and fully understand the impacts (both pros/cons) of such packages
Strong knowledge of latest Salesforce development and deployment practices including Lightning, LWC and bitbucket
Knowledge of business modeling, governance and operations
Strong business processes, process documentation and process improvement skills
Ability to explain complex technical issues in a simple manner
Ability to listen, build rapport, and credibility as a strategic partner vertically within the business unit, as well as with leadership and functional teams

Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Business, or related field preferred
