Berwick By The Sea in Campbell River is looking for a regular part time Recreation Assistant working 22.5 hours weekly. Recreation Assistant – Part Time

Benefits Eligible – 22.5 hrs/week

Hours of Work:

Days & Evenings – Including one day of the weekend

Duties:

The Recreation Assistant is responsible for assisting the Recreation Manager in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational programs on a daily basis. Helps arrange recreation programs by contacting community members to provide entertainment, educational and/or social opportunities for residents. Encourages resident participation and researches recreational interests and needs. Assists with the development of a monthly recreation schedule, implements ongoing programs including set up and clean up. Provides bus transportation to various activities, works collaboratively with other departments and maintains a clean and safe environment for residents and other team members. Work as a cohesive team member with Administrative staff to ensure the delivery of seamless customer services for coverage of reception and main switchboard.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a degree in Leisure Studies or a Certificate in Recreation
  • Class 4 drivers license
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Level B or C
  • Proficient skills with Microsoft Office programs (Excel & Word)

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years related experience working with seniors and/or with providing recreation or leisure programs
  • Experience with events planning would be an asset
