We are looking to fill the position of Wholesale Broker within our energy insurance team. The primary responsibility in the role of Wholesale Broker is to manage, maintain and grow a book of over 200 small to medium sized oil and gas risks which are made up of E&P and service companies. The successful candidate would be responsible for the gathering of renewal information, negotiating renewal terms and preparing proposals based on those terms. The Wholesale Broker is also responsible for maintaining positive relationships with their clients which are made up of Broker partners from across Western Canada. This role is not only responsible for maintaining existing business, but also for growing the book by set “hard” targets as laid out prior to the start of each calendar year. Key Job Responsibilities
Maintain existing business by building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and agencies
Prepare and deliver high quality presentations and proposals
Negotiate with markets in order to achieve the best possible deal for your client
Effectively manage and maintain client and business information, according to best practice and standards, utilizing a variety of core business applications
Actively prospect for and develop new business opportunities
Work with internal teams, colleagues, and managers to develop creative solutions and integrated sales programs for clients
Respond to queries and follow up on all client calls and e-mails
Update and maintain all account history and activity reports
Prepare monthly sales status reports
Attend industry events
Review of documentation for routine policy changes, additions, deletions, renewals or cancellations
Processing insurance applications, endorsements, binders, quotes, rating, etc.
Manage renewal list and tracks expiry dates for the proactive planning of renewal and for follow up internally for up to date information
Communicate directly with underwriters and account teams to follow-up or obtain additional information per best practice and standards
Coordinate all client/insurer follow-up
Manage, organize and update relevant data using database applications
Communicate with insurers as required to support the broking function
Perform other duties as required
Education and Experience Requirements
License(s) essential to provincial licensing jurisdictions as required for the position along with management of continuing education hours to ensure licensing compliance
Five (5) years insurance experience broking or underwriting
Willingness & acceptance to learning on a continual basis through educational opportunities and collaboration with colleagues
Will be expected to act as an internal resource
Proven ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
Proven proficiency in MS office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Adobe products
Familiar with insurance document management software
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work
Ability to multi‐task between a variety of tasks, projects, and deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and /or within a team is essential
Excellent customer service skills
Completion of post-secondary an asset
Insurance designations and/or courses completed towards designations an asset
Experience within the EPIC Broker Management System (BMS) an asset
