Reporting to the Provincial Program Manager, Physician Compensation, in the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Portfolio, the Coordinator, Professional Billing Office will be responsible for the effective and efficient planning, leading, organization, operation, and reporting of the Provincial AHS Professional Billing Office. The role will be responsible to configure and implement physician billing data elements from Connect Care, support change management plans for individuals (physicians and non-physicians) involved in physician billing throughout the province, and propose and evaluate ongoing AHS Professional Billing Office operational models. While physician billing within AHS is not new, an AHS Professional Billing Office as an entity is new business and, as such, policies and processes will have to be established as well as identifying staffing compliment, developing specific service offerings, and budget planning. Significant collaboration and coalition building with internal colleagues (Zone & Provincial Medical Affairs, Chief Medical Information Office particularly related to Connect Care, Information Technology & Finance) and external colleagues (software providers (i.e. EPIC for Connect Care), University Faculties of Medicine in Alberta, ARP management committees, physician offices, etc.) will be required. This senior professional role will set quality standards and implement best practices for the organization. As new work, this complex, strategic role has significant impact on Medical Affairs and contributes to the overall success and reputation of AHS. The position is also responsible for evaluation of the Professional Billing Office and ensuring alignment with the vision, mission and strategic plan of AHS and Medical Affairs goals.

Completion of post-secondary education required with a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree. Formal post-secondary training that includes medical billing and medical terminology. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of progressive experience, both managing projects and individually creating/implementing practical solutions ideally with experience in a healthcare/physician culture and/or human resource management context. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage short term and long term plans and projects and deliver customer focused results. Strong data literacy and data management skills: ability to understand data linkages and to efficiently combine different data elements from different sources to deliver integrated solutions. Ability to direct others how to manage data. Creative in establishing new processes that are efficient and effective. Effective communication skills, particularly oral. Strong organizational skills and a commitment to quality services. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Self-motivated and skilled at balancing competing demands and multiple, changing priorities.
Experience with physician billing processes (fee for service and/or Alternative Relationship Plan environments) and/or physician office operations. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
