Process Engineer

Quesnel River Pulp (QRP) is a 400,000 tpy Bleached Chemi-Thermo Mechanical Pulp (BCTMP) pulp mill. Key responsibilities include:
Process monitoring of mill operations to assist operators with optimizing and troubleshooting activities.
Defining and evaluating process deficiencies (troubleshooting) by working closely with other technical and operating personnel.
Keeping track of the production issues and process efficiencies in areas of responsibility.
Developing and implementing solutions to problems.
Developing technical and financial analysis documents for executive approval on capital projects.
Acting as technical resource on large projects, including documenting findings and recommendations in a post completion audits.
Increasing the process cost savings through troubleshooting and implementing new feasible technologies.
Acting as process expert on teams formed to investigate root cause analysis of significant mill issues.
Working with research facilities, consultants and mill laboratory personnel to develop test programs to investigate mill issues.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and eligibility for registration with APEGBC as an EIT or P.Eng. Applicants with demonstrated experience in process roles in pulp and paper or in the chemical industry will be considered.
Strong desire to learn in “the field” and through formal processes to develop expertise in the area.
Demonstrated leadership ability and a willingness to affect change.
Excellent interpersonal skills, such as persistence, diligence and a willingness to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical skills coupled with a proactive and practical approach to completing work.
Strong decision making, organizational, time management skills.
A proactive, detailed oriented approach to work.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude/inclination.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
