Irving Ltd. group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company’s primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defence. In October of 2011, Irving Shipbuilding was selected to build the Royal Canadian Navy’s new combat fleet. The combat package includes construction of 6 Arctic Offshore Patrol Ships and 15 Canadian Surface Combatants over the next few decades.

We are looking for a We are looking for a Technical Administration Manager for our Dartmouth, NS office.

Qualifications:
Education Required: University Degree (Business or Technical preferred)

Years of Experience Required:
7-10 years of experience managing technical administration projects, groups, and/or people
1+ year of Naval Technical Documentation experience
Demonstrated experience in being able to coach for performance and establishing a culture of accountability and performance
Proven track record of establishing individual and team goals, objectives, and KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide overall leadership and direction to the Information Management, Technical Records, Configuration Management and Technical Publications staff on the Configuration and Information Management (CIM) Team.
Manage the performance and development of all CIM staff
Establish departmental metrics and cascade those down to employees while providing guidance and mentoring to team leads.
Provide inputs into related employee’s performance evaluations and professional development, in cooperation and coordination with other functional supervisors.
Conduct the planning and execution of staff development (through the supervisors) of core and new skills that aligns with CSC Engineering Goals and Objectives.
Provide leadership and oversight of all CIM employees as well as provide expertise and support where/when required
Accountable for the annual departmental strategic plan and corresponding resource identification
Responsible for integrating the Work Force Plan, Development Strategy, IT Strategy, Technical Tools Strategy, and Infrastructure Strategy (Enablers)
Oversee the development and production of document deliverables to the customer, including, but not limited to Deliverables Ship’s Manuals, Systems Manuals, Technical Publications, and Maintenance plans and schedules.
Manage all project activities relating to the development, production, and quality of the Technical Publications, Information Management and Document Management deliverables
Ensure that all direct reports are fully engaged and tasked in the execution of these deliverables
