Why this role is important?

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, Payor Partnerships and Business Development, the VP, Payor Partnerships will lead the customer relationship management, strategy development, and implementation of a number of private payor solutions to meet our customers’ needs, expand commercial relationships, strengthen our competitive position, and deliver incremental value for stakeholders. Private payors are highly strategic and financially important stakeholders for our Company. This market encompasses commercial relationships with Carriers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, Consultants, Advisors and Brokers, and directly with employers.

Although the focus of the portfolio is on private payors, there are opportunities to leverage our solutions for public or direct-to-consumer segments and collaborate with other teams in the business.

The VP Payor Partnerships has accountability for the P&L for our Health Solutions business unit. The two divisions of this business have unique and challenging mandates. Drug Plan Solutions implements programs to curb the fundamental drivers of escalating drug plan spending for employers. Workplace Wellbeing develops programs on helping employers to manage chronic conditions, to bring colleagues back to work faster, and to drive overall wellness for employees. This executive will ensure both divisions are committed to deliver tangible value to employers and positive health outcomes to their employees.

What You'll Do:
Lead the strategy development, business case, and implementation of payor partnership programs and initiatives
Identify, establish and effectively manage executive level relationships with clients and key stakeholders
Develop keen insights from implications of industry trends and drivers to shape strategy development and develop programs that meet our customers’ needs
Drive innovation, creativity and development of relevant solutions for clients aimed to curb drug plan spending, manage chronic conditions, and improve health outcomes
Lead cross functional teams to aggressively drive execution of programs and initiatives, assess performance, and measure results to plan
Develop a strong pipeline of clients for key product offerings and lead all aspects of the sales cycle from prospecting, to development, to deal close
Lead the all client contract structuring, negotiations and active management of contract commitments
Provide key inputs for all financial analysis and pro-forma models, interpret results, and draw insights to support contract negotiations, business cases, and contractual commitments
Manage the P&L and capital budget of the business to deliver on the annual financial plan and key performance indicators
Lead the financial planning process for developing the business unit’s annual budget, period forecasts, and variance analysis
Partner with executive management and provide thought leadership on strategic issues, working collaboratively across all functions to develop meaningful solutions for clients and impact for the business

What You'll Need:
Undergraduate degree in business, finance, actuarial science, or related fields
Post graduate degree in Business Administration or related fields would be an asset
A minimum of ten to fifteen years of senior management experience in Life and Health Insurance, Pharmacy Benefits Management, Health Benefit Consultancy, or Health Benefit Advisor industries
Extensive network of relationships and well respected with senior management in Life and Health Insurance, Pharmacy Benefits Management, Health Benefit Consultancy, or Health Benefit Advisor industries
Outstanding direct client management experience including complex contract negotiation and structuring, issues resolution, and executive stakeholder management
Experience in managing a sales and marketing organization through direct sales to employers, channel partnerships, and strategic alliances
Financial acumen including P&L accountability, capital budgeting, business case development, and analytical insights
Ability to lead a cross functional team to deliver multi-faceted complex projects with tight time frames and on budget
Ability to influence and work with executives and key decision makers across lines of business to lead and deliver on ‘cross functional’ product offerings
Superior communication, interpersonal, influencing, negotiations, report writing and presentation skills
Flexibility to work in a changing environment
Ability to travel (Approximately 10%)

Exceptional industry experience in the health and benefits industry with knowledge of drug plan design and management, product development, and leveraging an indirect sales and marketing organization

Knowledge of pharmacy industry, economic model, and workflow
Entrepreneurial with an ability to take a concept from blue print to execution
