Your Opportunity:
The Administrative Services Manager of the Department of Surgery (DoS) is responsible for leading the Administrative Assistant team(s) and staff located at PLC, ACH, RGH, and SHC. Working closely with all members of the DoS leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for operational requirements to ensure effective and efficient support is offered to all members of staff and the surgeons linked to DoS. The DoS is seeking a leader who is in pursuit of a challenge and wishes to join a dynamic, motivated, and strong interdisciplinary team in pursuit of full department success.

In collaboration with the Department of Surgery (DoS) leadership team, the Administrative Services Manager will provide guidance and oversight to the DoS Administrative Assistants and staff within the Calgary Zone. The successful candidate is responsible for providing direction, team leadership, and organization in support of the vision, mission, and areas of strategic focus for Alberta Health Services and the Department of Surgery. The Administrative Services Manager is accountable and responsible for providing support to the staff and surgeons and making day to day operational decisions to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in a health or healthcare related discipline required. A minimum of 3 years leadership experience in healthcare in an organization of comparable size, complexity, and diversity required. A demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development appropriate to this position required. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills required. Client focused with a commitment to providing quality services required. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively lead teams through change. An enhanced understanding of systems thinking. Ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster collaborative partnerships and relationships to achieve organizational goals within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office and AHS applications such as Clinibase, Accuro, Oracle, i-Expense, and e-Facilities. Must be able to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive and confidential issues. Understanding of Collective Agreements and demonstrated ability to resolve labor relations issues. Maintains current knowledge of the Physician Workforce Plan in order to plan human resources, space, and equipment needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred. Quality Improvement Yellow Belt preferred.
