Job Title: Recycling Field Manager

Summary:
Value Village, a Savers brand, is a billion-dollar, purpose-driven retailer with over 300 stores and more than 21,000 employees throughout Canada, the U.S. and Australia. The Recycling Field Manager supports Savers’ vision by working with stores to meet 100% of each store’s recycling budget and increase the amount of recyclable items sent from stores.

Essential Job Functions

Develops partnerships with District Managers and Regional Directors to support and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction for flow of goods and company standards.
Trains team members in stores on the value of recycling.
Implements product and market development within the assigned region; serves as the technical advisor for product recycling; keeps stores informed about market conditions.
Coordinates the flow of product from the sales demand side to the supplies demand side; oversees stores’ back room flow to ensure that they abide by the standards, best practices and efficiency requirements to meet Company objectives for increased recyclable pounds from stores within the Region.
Participates on and leads department or company-wide projects in support of the company goals and objectives

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of the recycling/rag industry
Working knowledge of training development and delivery
Demonstrated skills in production in a recycling center
Demonstrated skills in customer service
Demonstrated skills in training and facilitation before large and small groups
Demonstrated planning and organization skills
Ability to read and understand P& L statements and other various company financial statements
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to think and act as a business owner in the thrift industry
Ability to share information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
Ability to communicate orally and in writing
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
Ability to be detailed oriented
Ability to implement change
Ability to participate on and lead projects
Ability to work within Savers culture
Ability to obtain a passport for travel within North America
Ability to add more recycling categories whenever possible
Travel (70% or less)

Minimum Required Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills and abilities
3 to 5 years of management experience
3 years’ experience in project management
3 years’ experience as a trainer, teacher or coach
Possess a valid driver’s license or have alternative means of reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:
Ability to process through store disposal receptacles to find salable and recyclable items that may have been thrown away.
Ability to occasionally move boxes up to 50 lbs.
Ability to get in and out of recycling trailers to review recycling loading standards.
Travel (70% or less)
