Under the general direction of the Executive Vice President, Operations – West, this pivotal leadership position will be accountable for developing River Rock’s vision and strategic plan to guide the property. The General Manager (GM) will be a transformational leader who works collaboratively with the Executive Vice President, Operations – West and other senior leaders. The GM will plan, organize, develop, motivate and energize a team of hospitality / resort professionals who will engage with our guests and create great experiences and memories for them. This seasoned leader will be a diligent driver of resort revenues with a major focus on growing gaming revenues and increasing market share, containing expenses and meeting the objectives of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation while also being a ‘builder’; someone who builds talent, capacity and the business. Duties and responsibilities for the next General Manager will include:

Oversees the success of day to day operations including generating profitable revenue growth and superior business results
Forecasts, prepares and monitors fiscal budgets and is fully versed in P&L
Conducts performance analysis based on specific data from system reports
Assists with the research, evaluation and implementation of new products, services, technology and processes to ensure a competitive position
Evaluates current business models and purposes and implements approved changes
Oversees and assists in driving marketing efforts to maximize guest satisfaction and profitability
Provides overall leadership to all department managers including creating a work environment that promotes leadership, teamwork, performance feedback, quality hiring, training and succession planning processes
Conducts frequent market analysis of local offerings and promotions
Leads transformational change including culture shift and business modeling
Accountable for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in all areas of the business
Champions and participates in events for the Company’s PROUD program
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders including guests, team members, business partners, regulators and the community
Ensures compliance with health & safety, licensing and regulatory/ statutory requirements
Ensures compliance with policy, procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain integrity of gaming operations
Leads other initiatives as required or assigned

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:

Minimum five years’ experience at a major full-service resort hotel and casino that would include at least four diamond amenities, quality of service and facility in a similar capacity as General Manager (or President or C.O.O.) reporting only to a corporate officer. As many companies use different titles, to clarify we are looking for an individual with full responsibility for the property
Post-secondary education in business or related discipline, or a suitable strong combination of continuing education together with progressive management experience
Experience working in a highly regulated environment
Experience leading in a unionized environment, as asset
Proven track record of success as a strategic and transformational leader in roles of General Manager or above
Multi-faceted resort leadership including gaming, food & beverage, spa, retail, entertainment and hotels
Strong financial acumen, business planning and budget expertise
Deep experience working and leading in a highly regulated multi-stakeholder environment
Proven project and budget management experience with success delivering superior financial results
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities and projects
Superior communication skills (writing, speaking, presenting and listening) and guest relations/inter-personal skills
Proven balanced leadership style that combines entrepreneurial drive with a disciplined analytical approach while inspiring people to contribute highly
Computer fluency in MS Office
Change management experience (acquisitions, restructuring, new lines of business, new technology implementation) an asset
Ability to obtain gaming registration – a comprehensive background check and disclosure of personal and financial information directly to gaming regulators is required
Experience in international marketing (Asian) preferred
