Development Coordinator

Booth University College invites applications for a Development Coordinator. This position is suited for an individual with a passion for Christian higher education and the organizational, administrative, communications, fundraising and interpersonal skills to effectively support the work of the Director of Advancement.

Essential Functions of the Job

The Development Coordinator will provide administrative support to the Development department, have primary responsibility for the Raisers Edge database (alumni and donors) and support of the development of strategic fundraising and communications initiatives for the institution.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for alumni stewardship
  • Assist in managing Booth UC’s effective relationship with donors
  • Process gifts received; Issue donor thank you letters and receipts in accordance with CRA and The Salvation Army guidelines
  • Accurately code donations in accordance with donors’ direction for use of funds, maintaining accurate records for gifts designated to specific purposes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and alumni information
  • Research grant and foundation application opportunities and assist in grant writing
  • Assist with direct mail program and production of Booth UC Connect magazine
  • Assist with writing and production of Booth UC E-News
  • Provide administrative support for the Development department including preparing presentations, processing invoices, liaising with vendors and tracking budget expenses
  • Prepare for and participate in functions and special events, on or off site, in support of development activities
  • Complete month end reconciliation in conjunction with Finance department and create regular and ad hoc fundraising reports as required

Key Skills and Requirements for the Job

  • Have completed post-secondary training in areas of administration, fundraising management, communications and public relations, or a related field
  • Possess 2 years’ experience in a development or communications position with a knowledge of Raisers Edge
  • Be proficient in data base management and use of Excel and PPT
  • Be an effective communicator with possess demonstrated strength in written and oral communications
  • Be detail oriented and customer service proficient
  • Be able to anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Have demonstrated strengths in areas of diplomacy, professional demeanor and sensitivity in dealing with confidential information
  • Be willing to travel, work evenings and weekends if needed, have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a satisfactory criminal record check
  • Fully supportive of the integration of faith and learning in a Christian university-level setting and a commitment to the Mission of Booth University College
  • Ability to integrate your Christian faith within the workplace
  • A solid understanding of The Salvation Army, its values, systems, faith and works is an asset

This is a full-time position with 37.5 hours per week. In addition to the compensation package we also provide a benefits package which includes health, dental and other group benefits, vacation and sick leave, RRSP, and a tuition bursary program.
