About this opportunity:
The Cenovus Learning Solutions team has an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to join us as Group Lead, Learning Operations.
Reporting into the Manager of Learning Solutions, this role is responsible for leading, motivating and developing a culture of continuous service improvement across Cenovus, as well as providing leadership and coaching to an established team of learning professionals.
Managing process improvement projects, providing leadership and support to Process Owners, and Managers is a key accountability of this role. As each new Learning Solution is implemented, the Group Lead, Learning Operations is accountable for ensuring that the appropriate metrics are in place.
As an ideal candidate, you will have experience interfacing with the business and collaborating within a team environment to support the learning needs for all of Cenovus. You will work closely and effectively with Clients within the business, Learning Advisors and HRBP’s to deliver high-impact learning and develop programs that contribute to Cenovus’s business performance as measured by the balanced scorecard.

This is a full time, permanent position, located in our downtown Calgary offices.

Define and implement a learning development process and methodology along with key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting, and governance mechanisms.
Provide leadership, direction and management for a team of learning professionals to ensure the successful delivery of learning and training initiatives.
Identify and manage risks for all learning initiatives and ensure that the appropriate risk mitigation controls are in place.
Engage with and gain the trust of our clients to identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and deliver service excellence, leading to improved business productivity.
Ensure the goals of various learning programs are achieved through the assessment of all learning activities against original requirements.
Accountable for the financial management of learning development initiatives. This includes participation in the budgeting cycle and month spend forecasting.
Work with SCM and contract business partners in the creation and implementation of service orders and agreements with 3rd party venders to maximize our buying power and ROI.
Collaborate with the learning administrators to refine existing reports and add new reports to ensure that the appropriate measurements are in place
Act as the initiating point of contact for all learning requests and the liaison between business clients, contractors and service providers
Communicate project timelines and challenges to Clients key stakeholders and Learning Manager
Ensure design and development methods are based on agreed-upon, recognized industry and discipline standards to maintain consistency across projects
Evaluate training programs and materials to ensure business requirements are met
Research and implement training development and eLearning tools, and best practices to maximize training effectiveness
Optimize education opportunities by understanding business needs across the organization and planning to deliver in the most efficient manner to all skill levels
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Post-secondary degree in a related field
Minimum 10+ years of experience in training and development field with a specialization in instructional design, multimedia development and learning management systems.
Advanced project and budget management experience, logistics/planning and change management skills.
Advanced knowledge and experience in contract law and vendor sourcing
Experience in an Oil and Gas setting is an asset
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Capable of handling sensitive information in a confidential manner
Skilled in integrating services into the customer value-chain
Background in adult learning principals
Flexible to changing work demands and priorities
Able to work independently within a fast-paced team environment
Ability to manage volume fluctuation in workload effectively
Well-developed team skills and a collaborative work style
Background with instructional design, multimedia development and delivery of training and training programs with expertise in LMS and e-learning development.
