Key Functions & Duties:

A Site Super within the Excavation division is responsible for the following duties:

  • Supervision of all activities on job sites including Health and Safety
  • Effectively manage site staff within a union or non-unionized environment to ensure completion of project, on schedule and on budget
  • Works cross functionally by utilizing internal business partners resources, systems, processes and operations
  • Develops safe and effective work plans and conveys them to crews in a clear fashion
  • Receive direction from Operations Manager and will be accountable for project deliverable and adherence to operations process and procedures

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hold effective job kick off meetings, daily tailgate meetings and weekly safety meetings
  • Responsible for daily tracking and reporting to the Project Manager and Operations
  • Manager of costs and ensuring cost effectiveness of procedures on a job site is such that actual costs are at or below planned costs in the Control Estimate
  • Provide prompt daily recording of site activities to Project Administrator, Project Manager and Operations Manager
  • Act as a liaison identifying issues, scope conflicts and project changes
  • Assign equipment, personnel, and subcontractor resources to satisfy project requirements and in accordance with union agreements (if applicable)
  • Ensure safety is #1 priority on site

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excavation local experience (8 years minimum)
  • Completion of high school or equivalent (mandatory)
  • Post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Technology and/or related field of study (asset)
  • Plan the work and anticipate needs
  • Read and understand plans
  • Manage a team: organize and plan the schedule and approve employee hours, make sure to have their invoices signed
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must enjoy working outside
  • Prepare work schedules
  • Solid understanding of Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental legislation as it relates to remediation and waste management projects
  • Prepare various required permits
  • Coordinate with estimating and project management team
  • Communicate with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensure health rules, safety and compliance with standards
  • Direct responsibility for scheduling people, equipment, and related resources, coordinating the overall flow of project activity, and proactively updating issues with those who need to know.
  • Monitor project progress and performance of contractors and staff.
  • Hold site meetings with contractors and staff on behalf of the Project Manager.
