The Lethbridge Community Out of School Association IT’S A BLAST program, established in 1992, is a non-profit organization licensed to provide out of school care for children 6 to 12 years old. We offer before, after school, and summer programs in several schools throughout Lethbridge.

The Staff and Development position will provide support to the development of our current and future programming staff. The ideal candidate is someone who brings enthusiasm with a minimum of 2 years in childcare or in a related field. The candidate will have superior communicating skills, written and oral. The preferred candidate will enjoy working with people and have high interpersonal skills.

The Program Assistant- Staff and Development must be able to multitask and stay organized. They are responsible for team building, as well as developing and implementing training and support for the floor staff. The Program assistant- Staff and Development will identify and implement solutions that address knowledge and skills gaps. This position works closely with the Program Coordinator offering support both at the office and in all programs. This position deals with multiple shifting priorities and multiple interruptions.

Location: It’s a Blast—Main Office

Employment Type: Permanent; 35 hours a week

Hours: Monday- Friday 9:00 am-4:30 pm Evening work may be required (until 6:00 pm)

Minimum Qualifications: ·

Minimum 2 years in the field of child care·

Child Development Worker or Supervisor Certificate

  • Proficient with MS Office
  • First Aid Certification
  • Clean Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector search conducted by the RCMP or Lethbridge Regional Police Service within the past 60 days.

Summary of Job Duties:

  • Builds and fosters relationships with all staff
  • Collaborates with the Program Coordinator and other programming staff to identify and implement solutions that address knowledge and skill gaps
  • Perform needs analysis to determine the full scope of training required
  • Ensure training remains current
  • Work with Program Coordinator on developing the training manual for new employees
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops and provide coaching and feedback as necessary
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to Program Coordinator and Executive Director
  • Fill in as a Program/Team Leader if required between the hours of 7 am- 9 am Monday through Friday; 3 pm-6 pm Monday through Thursday; 11:30 am-6 pm on Fridays
  • Be able to go into a program: observe, plan, discuss with team leaders, and work together to carry out necessary changes and fill out program visit forms
