Position Summary

R.N. - Temporary Part Time - Recovery Room
Required - 6 January 2020
Temporary Part Time ending on or before - 25 November 2020

Essential Qualifications

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BCLS current and ongoing
  • ACLS required OR willing to complete within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum 2 years surgical experience plus one of:
a) One year PACU experience, or
b) One year experience critical care, or
c) PeriAnaesthesia nursing certificate course which includes the critical care set
  • Certificate in Post Anaesthesia Recovery or successful completion within 6 months of hire
  • Demonstrated proficient, immediate post-operative assessment skills
  • Must be able to take on-call duty on a rotational basis
  • Must be able to respond within thirty (30) minutes when on call. (On call room available at RMH if needed)
  • Must be able to fulfill physical requirement of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PAR environment, procedures, instruments and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with stressful situations in a constructive manner
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Day Surgery environment, procedures, instruments and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, continuously-changing environment
  • Demonstrated accountability and responsibility
  • Demonstrated communication, organizational and time management skill
Preferred Qualifications

  • Current IV Therapy and Medication Certifications
  • Good health teaching skills with pre and post op patients
Hours Of Work

Must be available days, evenings, weekends and on call for nights and stats. Shifts and hours may vary according to departmental requirements and as per the ONA Collective Agreement.
