Bailey Nelson is a small team of inspired and dedicated people. We believe our software and technology is an important part of what will help us provide the most advanced and enjoyable eyewear experience in the world. We are seeking a driven Front End Developer with a wide knowledge base and the desire to continuously improve their skills. This role will function as a key member of the team to design and build beautiful and highly functional web applications, both internal and customer-facing.

As an early addition to the development team, you will work closely with marketing teams, designers, and product owners to collaboratively build a solid foundation for what we hope to be the future of eye-care. You will be the subject matter expert of your field and your goals and opinions will shape the future of our websites. As a Front End Developer, your responsibilities will include designing, building, and deploying reliable and scalable web applications that will significantly affect customer experience and internal team performance. There will be plenty of opportunity for creativity and the freedom and respect to make important decisions about the products you build.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Collaborate with designers and product owners to create beautiful user interfaces

Put together requirements and provide time and workload estimates for web-based projects

Keep managers and project management tools up to date with your weekly progress

Provide guidance on functional solution architecture & design, web application development best practices, architecture standards, environment management, and testing

Technical Skills & Experience:
A degree or diploma in computer science or related discipline

Experience communicating with 3rd-party platforms via APIs, SDKs, etc.

Experience using Git in a team setting

A good understanding of the HTTP protocol

Project experience with VueJS or ReactJS using state management like Vuex or Redux and bundled with webpack and Babel

Modern CSS techniques like Flexbox, Grid Layout, and Custom Properties (CSS Variables)

An understanding that security is a requirement and not just a consideration

Experience designing and building mobile-friendly, progressive web applications

This role would ideally be filled by someone with a full-stack background and experience with:

NodeJS in ES6+/TypeScript and/or C#.NET core

SQL (Postgres and Sql Server)

AWS or GCP

Redis or Memcached

Writing GraphQL and REST APIs

Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices

The first two major projects you will be a part of:
  • Full website refresh and redesign across 4 Shopify stores.
  • Ideation to implementation of an appointment scheduling software.
