As the Leader of the Quality Assurance (QA) COE (Centre of Expertise), the incumbent is accountable for maintaining all Quality Assurance resources and best-practice knowledge for delivery and operational support functions within IS.

The Role:
Responsible to support organizational success by ensuring that appropriate expertise is built and maintained within the COE and to continually improve resource performance. The QA COE Lead is accountable for ensuring that the right set of skills are maintained and continually reviewed. Expected skill levels will be adjusted based on changing technology needs of the organization. You will define the overarching mandate of COE and will empower and support the members in achieving the mandate.

As a practitioner, you will be responsible for the delivery of all forms of testing (Manual, Automated and Performance). You will:
Take responsibility for the management of all testing activities
Manage all risks associated with the testing and takes preventative action when any risks become unacceptable
Assesses and advises on the practicality of testing process alternatives, including automated testing. Initiates improvements to test processes and directs their implementation
Assesses suppliers' development and testing capabilities
Determines project testing standards for all phases, influencing all parties to conform to those standards. Manages client relationships with respect to all testing matters
Inspire COE members to grow and be successful. Provide ongoing coaching and advise in developing member's career goals for junior to senior members
Enable continuous improvement to standards and templates, mentoring the professional development of members, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to maturing quality assurance competencies
Foster and grow an open communication and continuous improvement culture
Apply DevOps, Agile/SCRUM and continuous delivery practices
Ensure that the business needs are understood and result in increasing internal business satisfaction
Open-mindedness, optimism, and patience to get connected with COE members to build and maintain healthy relationships

The Ideal Candidate:
Post-secondary education in computer technology or IT related discipline from an accredited institution
Experience working with ITIL (preference for ITIL certification)
10 years’ of information technology experience, preferably in Quality Assurance
5+ years’ hands-on demonstrated experience in a quality assurance delivery lead role
5+ years’ management experience in a medium to large-sized organization in a quality assurance role
5+ years’ experience managing or directing IT operational teams
3+ years' experience with Automation Testing and Performance testing
Financial sector experience (preferably in banking) is considered an asset
Experienced in using different automation tools and technologies
Experienced in developing, documenting, communicating, enforcing policy and standards
Experienced reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing testing and develop strategies for improving
Experienced in providing design guidance, direction, and assistance within the application development streams for QA related items
Experienced in overseeing the design of reusable components to be leveraged across various applications within the organization
Agile/Scrum experience
