Job Summary:
Within the context of a client and family centered model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Senior Patient Care Manager is responsible for effective and efficient delivery of health services for a significantly sized clinical program that encompasses multiple clinical departments/units. The position is responsible for management and oversight of the overall planning, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of acute care across these department/units. The Senior Manager provides leadership and direction for the clinical operations management, utilization and risk management, and quality improvement of the departments/units. In addition, directs the efforts of leaders and an interdisciplinary team in the attainment of the organization’s strategic and operational goals and in the achievement of excellence in patient and family centered care.

Masters’ Degree in a relevant health care profession supplemented with leadership and business management courses plus ten (10) years’ recent, related clinical and progressive leadership experience in a medium to large health care organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Current registration or membership with a recognized professional association.

Demonstrated excellence in communicating both orally and in writing such that the intended audience understands the essence and subtleties of the communication especially within a complex interdisciplinary environment.

Awareness of organizational systems and internal and external stakeholders and works in collaboration to develop, manage, and evaluate clinical programs that consider client needs, service delivery interrelationships, and service potential within a complex environment.

Displays expertise in managing human, financial, capital, and other resources to achieve organizational objectives. Facilitates, collaborates, and negotiates for effective conflict management and resolution of issues.

Proven ability to provide feedback and detailed analysis on budget variances and make recommendations for corrective action.

A track record of building high performing teams, supporting the professional practice and ongoing development of leaders and staff, and establishing a results-oriented team focus.

Demonstrated ability to manage available resources keeping quality foremost in all resource utilization decisions; continuously identifying and implementing improvements to ensure the highest possible level of service quality.

Demonstrated ability to lead others through change and to leverage partnerships to accomplish transformation in clinical program areas.

Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to succeed with own work activities and to delegate to achieve maximum efficiency.

Proven record of identifying and analyzing complex situations and problems and finding innovative yet viable solutions that meet the organization’s operational and strategic goals.

Promotes development of clinical research opportunities to ensure evidence-based practice within an interdisciplinary team-based environment.

Demonstrated computer literacy with current word processing, spreadsheet, email and database programs, and the ability to navigate health information and EHR technologies with ease.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
